According to the United Nations, millions of people around the world believe that climate change is a "global emergency" and that it is affecting their everyday lives. Sustainable production and consumption must therefore become the new norm to curb it.
In 2015, all Members of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals, to build peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future ππΏ
There are 3 key pillars of Sustainable Development:
The UN has proposed that these 3 pillars be broken down into 17 tangible objectives.
β
For example, objectives such as #4 Quality Education, #5 Gender Equality, #10 Reduced Inequalities, etc., are primarily intended to respond to current social problems.
Goals #1 No Poverty, #8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, and #9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, primarily address the economic pillar.
Finally, the environmental pillar is broken down into objectives such as #6 "Clean Water and Sanitation", #7 "Clean and Affordable Energy", #12 "Sustainable Consumption and Production", #13 "Measures to Combat Climate Change", and so on. These pillars are at the heart of today's debates, particularly with the arrival of environmental regulations such as the AGEC law and environmental labelling.
Many companies today focus their CSR strategy on these different pillars and objectives. We would therefore like to explain how Waro helps companies to contribute to the Environmental Sustainable Development Goals.
With our platform, textile, fashion and home furnishings manufacturers and distributors can contribute to at least 5 sustainable development goals. Here's how it works:
Waro gives you the opportunity to calculate what is known as "freshwater eutrophication" induced by a product. In other words, you can see how the life cycles of your products pollute water, and thanks to Waro you can build different scenarios to reduce this type of pollution.
This is the main reason we created our company, and the key value we bring to our users. With Waro, producers and consumers can understand the environmental impact of their products and make choices accordingly to reduce it. We believe that environmental impact should become a decision-making criterion in its own right, for both production and consumption, to enable more responsible consumption and production.
Waro measures the CO2 emissions of products from the extraction of raw materials, through production and transport, to end-of-life. It is possible to build different scenarios, calculate the carbon footprint and ensure that the least polluting options are implemented.
Waro allows you to measure the impact of your products on biodiversity (via air and water pollution) and thus choose design scenarios that minimize the impact on biodiversity.
Sustainable production and consumption must become the new norm today to stop climate change and reduce our impact on the planet! And Waro can help: by understanding the impact of the products you manufacture or distribute, you can meet the demands of today's consumers.
